Introducing TypeTab: autocomplete for your whole Mac

TypeTab finishes your sentences in every Mac app — emails, messages, posts, comments — and runs entirely on Apple Silicon. Here is what it does and why nothing you type ever leaves your Mac.

You already know what you want to say. The slow part is typing it out. TypeTab closes that gap: it finishes your sentences right where your cursor is, in any Mac app, and you press Tab to accept.

No chat window. No prompting. No flipping to another tab to ask a chatbot and paste the answer back. Just your next words, ready a beat before you would have typed them.

What it actually does

TypeTab watches the field you are typing in and offers an inline, greyed-out continuation of your sentence. If it is right, press Tab to take the next word, or Ctrl+E to accept the whole line. If it is wrong, keep typing — the suggestion quietly updates and never blocks you.

It works the same everywhere you already write:

  • Email — get through your inbox without staring at a blank reply
  • Messages, Slack, WhatsApp — answer faster and still sound like yourself
  • Social posts and comments — finish the thought and hit send
  • Notes and docs — keep the words flowing
  • Most native text fields on macOS

One tool, system-wide. There is no per-app setup.

It runs on your Mac — all of it

This is the part that matters most. Every prediction TypeTab makes happens on-device, on Apple Silicon. Your words never leave your Mac, are never uploaded, and are never used to train a model. TypeTab works on a plane with the Wi-Fi off.

That is deliberate. The whole point of a writing assistant is that you use it for everything — the work email, the message to a friend, the post you are second-guessing. Help that quietly ships your keystrokes to a server is not help you can trust with all of that. TypeTab is.

It sounds like you, not a robot

We believe in augmenting your writing, not replacing it. TypeTab learns your vocabulary, the names you use, and your tone over time — so suggestions read like something you would actually write. And because you accept only what fits, the words stay yours.

It is especially handy if English is not your first language, if typing is physically tiring, or if you simply think faster than you type.

How to start

  1. Install the app, or run brew install muvon/tap/typetab.
  2. Grant accessibility — one macOS permission so TypeTab can read the field you are typing in.
  3. Start typing. Press Tab for the next word, Ctrl+E for the whole line.

It is free to try — your first 100 word completions and 20 full-line completions are on us, no account. When you are ready, a one-time license unlocks unlimited use on up to three Macs.

Type at the speed of thought. We think you will like it.
